Ageing with dignity: Dr. Rifat speaks to the Arab Society for Disability and Oral Health

On 29 July 2026, Dr. Rifat was an invited speaker at a webinar of the Arab Society for Disability and Oral Health (ASDH), titled Ageing with Dignity: Applying Special Care Dentistry Principles to Geriatrics.
The session looked at the clinical, ethical and practical sides of caring for older adults’ teeth, and drew participants from more than five countries. The discussion afterwards focused on three questions many dentists face:
- how to start building a practice around older patients
- how to care for older adults who resist or fear treatment
- how to respect consent and independence when a patient’s ability to decide is changing
